The research and consulting firm, BlessingWhite, is currently offering a complimentary 2 1/2 hour session, called “Impacting Engagement in 2011: The Leader’s Role,” in many major cities around the U.S. Here they reveal an advance peek at the results of their brand new global survey on employee engagement. Check out the time and location in the various cities. I attended the one in Washington, DC. It was well worth the time, in terms of both the information shared and the stimulating discussion that ensued.
In particular, however, I want to share five reflective questions (with the permission of BW) that I gleaned from the materials. These are terrific ones:
- To ask yourself, as a check-in about your own level of engagement
- To then share your answers with your staff
- To ask your employees, individually
Here they are:
- When are you most engaged at work?
- Why did you join this organization?
- Why do you stay?
- When you consider the organization’s future, what are you most excited about?
- What are you most anxious about?
When you think about it, these can trigger deeper discussions in many directions. They can elicit important information about the current state of mind and well-being of your staff. And, handled well by you, they can grow the level of trust between you and your reports.
